Now, at the end of Act 4, make a prediction about how this play will end.

Mr. Sullivan, my 12th grade English teacher, made us dress up in Burger King crowns and sword fight with paper towel tubes to make sense of Shakespeare's Hamlet. Here at the American School in Guadalajara we are going to use the internet instead. In the posts below, follow us as we seek to understand why this really is the greatest play in the English language.

ReplyDeleteI think that the play will end, with Hamlet returning from England, causing even more trouble in the kingdom. He will beat Laertes in the duel and then not drink the poison placed in his drink. Hamlet will use the army of Norway to kick out Claudius as king and in return he Hamlet will give Norway land once he is king. And Claudius dies somehow.

ReplyDeleteI think that in the end Hamlet will return and beat Laertes in the duel and will not drink the poson. Also he will uncovered the truth about his uncle and Claudius will be killed.
I think that perhaps Gertrude will end up killing herself because she will feel guilty of marring her husband's murderer.
I think, hamlet will defea laertes, kill claudius and then be killed by either ophelias brother or some secondarey character... haha it would be kind of a twist
ReplyDeleteIsn't Hamlet one of Shakespeare's tragedies?
ReplyDeleteIf so, everyone is gonna die.
I think Hamlet will get killed but somehow manage to take Claudius and Laertes with him.

Like Lina said I expect the most tragic end possible, this means that Claudius, Leartes, and Hamlet will all die. Therefore living the kingdom to the other prince, and allowing for the country to fall into the hands of the enemy. Everyone will be unhappy then exept the "enemy".
ReplyDeleteI predict that they will blame Ophelia's death on Hamlet and seeing that he will be sentenced to death, Hamlet will kill his uncle and mother.

A tornado formed inside the castle will dig up the dead and everyone will be turned into zombies while Freddy Krueger goes to the dermatologist. jk
ReplyDeleteI think that Hamlet will return and kill his uncle, which will probably kill his mom too with a heart attack of something, and then Hamlet will become insane because of that and discovering Ophelia is no longer dead, so he will commit suicide after killing everyone else or something like that.

and discovering Ophelia is no longer THERE*
ReplyDeletei think that there is no way this play is gonna have a happy ending. Hamlet is gonna kill laertes and then his uncle and after getting his revenge, he's gonna kill himself.
ReplyDeletehamlet has a personality that will never allow him to be happy. Death is his only way out.
Or even if he physically doesnt kill himself, emotionally, he will be dead.

This is supposedly a tragedy, and from what I´ve seen so far, Shakespeare tends to run towards drama. For this reason, I am expecting everyone to die. Laertes, the facebook friends, and even Hamlet will die. In my opinion, things have already gone too wrong for them to turn out good in the end. So many mistakes have already been made and so many plans have already been created, that in the end, it is impossible for anyone to end up "winning". The play is like an actual war, so in the end, as they say, everyone will lose. As Pilar said, either actually dead, or at least emotionally dead.
ReplyDeleteI´m expecting tears, bloodshed, and utter tragedy.
Hamlet went crazy even before going to england. With that, Hamlet will win the duel against Laertes and Laertes will die, since Hamlet will have the poisoned sword . He will not drink the poison of HIS DRINK but Claudius will, and that will make gertrude go mad, and she will comitt suicide do to the great depression she will face:).. Hamlet will sail with the pirates since there is nothing left to do at home. the end.

I am not sure about my prediction,,,,,
ReplyDeletebut i think that Laertes is going to kill himself. Hamlet is going to come and back and kill Hamlet. Gertude, goes crazy after seeing so much death and also commits suicide. Hamlet, seeing that his job is done, kills himslef and only Horatio is left alive to tell the Hamlet's tradegy.
nicole :D
I don't really know what is going to happen because Shakespeare likes very tragic endings so probably every important character is going to die. I think Hamlet will win the duel with Laertes or something stupid like that they switch the sword so Hamlet kills Laertes without wanting to will Happen. Then Hamlet is going to kill Claudius. I think Gertrude is the one that is not going to die, but Hamlet will die somehow.

I think that Ophelia's brother will try to kill Hamlet, but will end up accidentally killing Gertrude, and so Claudius will be angered and will kill Ophelia's brother, and then Hamlet will kill the King, and will commit suicide at the end. HOWS THAT EH? Real drama..
ReplyDeleteGiselle
I think there's going to be a mix up with the swords, and Hamlet's going to kill Laertes without even knowing it, making things worse. Then the Norwegian army's going to come save the day and kick Claudius out and Hamlet's going to kill him in the worst possible way. Will
ReplyDeleteI think that Hamlet will come back, kill Laertes, kill his uncle and then her mom will committ suicide and horatio will kill Hamlet and become king.
ReplyDeleteHAHAHA I dont know but something like that. Probably there will be a LOT of more deaths and everything will mix up. I do think that Laertes and Claudius will die and so will Hamlet at the end. He will probably commit suicide as his craziness will grow. He will return truly crazy from England.. it wont just be an act, and then he will kill himself.
Maria jose Fernandez
Laertes, Gertrude, Claudies, facebook dudes, Ophelia, Hamlet, blablabla, everyone will die, but the how, only God knows. Shakespear has already surprised me with Ophelia's sudden madness, so I won't try to predict what this drama-queen has provided for the ending.
ReplyDeleteInstead of predicting, I admit and agree with some of my classmates, it would be awesome if Gertrude committed suicide. LOL! I know it's cruel of me but she just really stressed me out and has managed to be the dumbest character in the whole play! And let's admit it, she kind of deserves it hahaha! Ok, I should go to bed now.
P.S.: I just love this blog thingy

Like a lot of my classamtes have posted I think that the only person that will be left standing is Gertrude. I think Laertes will be killed by Hamlet in the duel, then hamlet will kill Claudius with a very specific and crazy plan and then out of like, remorse or pain of being alone etc... hamlet will kill himself. :)
